Inspired by the quiet rebellion of how people actually drink their martinis, Stelo turns a small act of rule-breaking into its defining form.

Traditionally, martini glasses insist on etiquette: hold the stem so the drink stays cold. Yet most people instinctively grasp the bowl instead, warming the glass and ignoring the rule entirely. Stelo embraces that mischief: its proportions invite the hand to settle naturally around the body of the glass, letting comfort guide the design rather than convention.

Stelo is less about perfect cocktails than about imperfect moments: laughter at the table, a late-night drink, or the quiet pleasure of holding something thoughtfully made.

Stelo is made from clear soda glass, chosen for its clarity, durability, and ability to capture subtle variations created during the blowing process. The transparency of the material allows the sculptural geometry of the glass to remain visually light while highlighting the colour and movement of the cocktail it holds.

Each Stelo glass is individually hand-blown in Cambridgeshire by glassmaker Stewart Hearn. The process gives every piece slight variations in form and proportion, preserving the expressive qualities of handmade glass. This subtle irregularity is part of the design’s character, reflecting the playful spirit that informed its development.

Stelo is sold as a set of two cocktail glasses. Each glass measures approximately 100 mm in diameter and 75 mm in height, with a capacity of around 130 ml. The compact proportions are designed to sit comfortably in the hand, allowing the drinker to hold the body of the glass rather than the stem, deliberately subverting the etiquette of the traditional martini glass.

This release consists of a small batch of twenty-five sets, produced by hand in Cambridgeshire. Due to the handcrafted process, each glass carries subtle variations that make every set unique. Only a limited number of pieces from this batch remain available.

To preserve the clarity and longevity of the glass, Stelo should be washed by hand using mild soap and warm water. Avoid abrasive materials and dishwasher cleaning, which may dull the surface over time.
